About the Role

This is an exceptional opportunity for a Solicitor to develop their experience in personal injury law. You’ll work closely with clients, helping them navigate life changing situations and fighting to obtain justice and positive outcomes for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Meet with clients and take instructions, for new and existing clients, and work with the team to advise as to the merits of potential claims.
  • Review and analyse medical and other relevant records and consider evidence.
  • Assist the team with drafting of letters of advice to clients, pleadings, briefs to counsel and positions papers.
  • Attend court for the necessary mentions and instruct barrister(s) at interlocutory applications and/or Hearings.
  • Attend Mediations and Informal Settlement Conferences as required.
  • Mentoring law clerks

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a lawyer with strong client service focus, personable approach, and commitment to social justice. You will ideally have 2+ years PAE however if you have a strong desire to forge a career within this space we want to hear from you.  In addition, you will have:

  • A valid practising certificate.
  • Experience in, or a strong preference for litigation, and motivation to learn about personal injury litigation.
  • A positive attitude and a passion for achieving results for clients.
  • A team based approach and ability to build positive relationships within a team environment at all levels across the firm;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build relationships and trust.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills, and commitment to drive matters to resolution in a timely manner.
  • An enthusiastic approach to contribute to the development and growth of the Canberra Personal Injury Practice and the advancement of Commins Hendriks.
